Van will have basketball after all

Van High School was about to rush in where even Paw Paws fear totred.

In early November, with boys basketball practice approaching injust days, Principal Ernest Wilson was without a coach and oneplayer short of a starting lineup. "We had to get the job posted,get all the paperwork done and then wait a week," he said. "We wereworried we might not have a team."

Despite a trend of population loss, every public school in WestVirginia still can gather up a starting five.

Even 47-student Paw Paw and 54-student Harman produced successfulbasketball teams last year thanks to individual stars.
