Fed: $4m to investigate link between cancer and family history

CANBERRA, Jan 1 AAP - The federal government will inject $4 million into a researchprogram investigating a possible link between cancer and family history.

Health Minister Senator Kay Patterson said it was vital to collect information nationallyto enable meaningful research into the potential link.

Senator Patterson said figures showed one in 12 women developed breast cancer at sometime during their lives.
