Investors in four new brew pubs are betting big bucks that the Capital Region has a thirst for small-brewery beer.
They are spending $5 million, to be exact, and all they expect in return is that the region's beer drinkers will raise their pint glasses 2 million times in the first year.
The four pubs will open in Albany, Latham, Saratoga Springs and Schenectady over the next seven months. They will join the 2-year-old ``father'' of the local industry, the Troy Pub and Brewery on River Street, accelerating the 10-year-old national trend's invasion of the Capital Region.
