MR. FIX-IT SET FOR GRAND OPENING

If you have a growing list of home fix-up projects that you've put off because you're just not sure about how to tackle them, stop by the grand opening of the new Ace Hardware store in Wauconda Saturday where home improvement expert Lou Manfredini, aka Mr. Fix-It, will be signing copies of his new book, 101 Answers to the Most Commonly Asked Questions About Repairing Your Home, and answering home repair questions.Manfredini can frequently be seen on The Today Show offering advice on household repairs, tools and preparing a backyard for the spring.

He has been answering homeowners' fix-up questions for more than five years on his Saturday morning talk show on WGN-AM radio and estimates he has answered more than 5,000 questions covering topics from how to perk up a sagging concrete stoop to choosing a reputable contractor.

He also is a regular contributor to OurHouse.com, an Internet site for home improvement products, services and advice where he regularly hosts live community chats and answers consumer's questions about home repair that are posted on the site's "Ask Mr. Fix-It" bulletin board.

The new Wauconda Ace Hardware is one of seven Ace stores owned and operated by the Laskowski family.

Their other stores are located in Round lake, Libertyville, Gurnee, Round Lake Beach, Mundelein and Lakehurst in Waukegan.
